63-Year-Old Costa Mesa Man Killed After Being Struck by Two Cars in Santa Ana

George Estrada Tellez was hit while walking on 1st Street; both drivers remained at the scene.

A 63-year-old man from Costa Mesa has died after being hit by two cars Friday evening in Santa Ana, authorities confirmed.

The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on 1st Street between Clara Street and Sullivan Street, according to the Santa Ana Police Department. Police say George Estrada Tellez was walking in the eastbound lanes of 1st Street near Center Street when he was struck by two vehicles in succession.

Emergency responders rushed Tellez to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

In a statement, police confirmed that both drivers involved stayed at the scene, rendered aid, and fully cooperated with investigators. Authorities also said that drugs or alcohol do not appear to have played a role in the crash.
